Wyoming Governor Mark Gordon has requested $6.8 million from the state legislature to expand the state’s cybersecurity team. The funds would be used to hire 37 new cybersecurity positions, with $2.3 million going towards the Department of Enterprise Technology Services and the remaining $4.5 million supporting non-cybersecurity roles across state agencies. Gordon wrote in his letter that Wyoming’s cybersecurity team is smaller than those in other states with similar populations. The governor hopes to create a “whole-of-state” cyber defense framework to better protect state and local jurisdictions.
