Lovelace parent blows the whistle on cyber attack targets

TL;DR: Lovelace Health System’s parent company, Ardent Health Services, is notifying nearly 1,000 patients whose personal information was accessed or stolen in a cyber attack that occurred on Thanksgiving. The attack, a ransomware attack, forced Lovelace to reroute emergency room patients for several days and temporarily shutdown its patient portal. A third party may have accessed patient contact information, Social Security numbers, medical treatment information, health insurance, claims information, and Medicaid and Medicare numbers. Ardent is offering credit monitoring and fraud-protection services through TransUnion for affected patients. The company is also working to improve its cybersecurity measures and enhance employee training. Lovelace Health System has set up a call center to answer questions from affected patients.
