US: Japan’s Cybersecurity Measures, Too Late, Too Little

The United States has criticized Japan’s cybersecurity measures as being “too little, too late” following a cyber-attack by China on the Japanese Foreign Ministry. The attack exposed vulnerabilities in Japan’s security measures and has left the US reluctant to share defense-related information with Japan. The US has urged Japan to introduce more “active” cyber defenses in order to combat increasingly sophisticated cyber-attacks. In response, Japan has started to improve its cybersecurity, but experts believe that it needs to do more in order to effectively protect itself.
