TLDR:

Chile has recently approved the Cybersecurity Law, making it a frontrunner in cybersecurity in Latin America. The law establishes the National Cybersecurity Agency with clear competences and powers to address cyber-attacks. Chile’s approach aligns with global cybersecurity standards and promotes a secure digital environment through regulations and cooperation between public and private sectors.

In recent years, the digital ecosystem has experienced significant growth, leading to an increase in cyber-attacks in Latin America. However, the number of attempted cyber-attacks is expected to decrease in 2023, with attacks becoming more targeted and sophisticated. Both public and private organizations need to invest in cybersecurity defenses to mitigate these risks.

Chile’s Cybersecurity Law introduces the National Cybersecurity Agency (ANCI) and the National Computer Security Incident Response Team (CSIRT), aiming to protect digital rights and combat cyber threats. The law aligns with global cybersecurity standards and emphasizes security and privacy by default and design. Governments should prioritize cybersecurity to ensure national stability and development.
