Vietnam supports UNSC on tackling global cyber security challenges

Giang stressed the importance of multi-dimensional approaches and uniform solutions to address these threats, with the UN playing a key role in strengthening international frameworks such as the Global Digital Compact and the Convention on Cyber Crime. Vietnam has taken a comprehensive approach to cyber security threats with the adoption of the Law on Cyber Security in 2018 and actively participates in international cooperation while respecting national independence and sovereignty.

The high-level debate on “Maintenance of International Peace and Security: Addressing Evolving Threats in Cyberspace” highlighted the need for increased cooperation, consolidation of the international legal framework, and enhancing the UN Security Council’s role in addressing global cyber security challenges. Participants expressed deep concern about global cybersecurity and proposed solutions to strengthen multilateral cooperation and narrow the gap in information technology among nations.

Overall, Vietnam’s support for the UNSC’s role in addressing cyber security challenges highlights the country’s commitment to promoting responsible behaviors on cyberspace and protecting essential infrastructure in the face of evolving threats in the digital age.
