As ships become more connected to shore for operational efficiency, the risk of cyber attacks compromising safety and operations also increases.

From GPS spoofing to phishing schemes and ransomware, the maritime industry faces a range of cyber threats. The recent acquisition of Diverto by Marlink has bolstered its cybersecurity expertise, with around 50 cybersecurity specialists and 150 certifications added to the team. Warde emphasizes the need for a multilayered approach to cybersecurity, including regular assessments, strong network defenses, and crew training to protect vessels and their personnel.
