The Quad Senior Cyber Group released a joint statement emphasizing their commitment to fostering a resilient Indo-Pacific region that can counter cyber attacks effectively. The statement reaffirmed the significance of enhanced collaboration in cybersecurity while sharing deep concerns for the increasing cyber attacks on the region’s critical infrastructure.

The Quad nations have been undertaking initiatives to build the capacity in the Indo-Pacific region to strengthen their defence against cyber disruptions on government networks and critical infrastructure. The group also reiterated their support for the Quad Cybersecurity Partnership and its principles.

During the meeting, members welcomed the idea of sharing cyber resources through capacity-building projects to enhance the security of infrastructure in the region. Recognizing the escalating frequency and sophistication of cyber attacks, the members discussed the importance of securing the resilience of IT and operational technology systems in critical infrastructure.

The Quad partners also discussed the necessity of leveraging critical and emerging technologies like artificial intelligence and machine learning. They reaffirmed the demand for secure and resilient supply chains in critical sectors. Fields of cooperation necessary to maintain a secure and resilient cyberspace in the region, including digital infrastructure such as undersea cables, telecommunications networks, and cloud services, were highlighted.

The group affirmed their commitment to continue working with Indo-Pacific countries to deliver practical outcomes and support capacity building in the region. The Quad partners are keen to move the Quad cyber initiatives forward to promote a secure cyberspace and realize a resilient, free, and open Indo-Pacific region.
