St Vincent’s Health Australia (SVHA) has warned that it could take some time to determine what data was stolen in a recent cyber attack. The hospital and aged care facility operator said that the forensic investigation to determine the extent of the breach was a complex and technical task. SVHA has engaged cybersecurity firm CyberCX to assist with the remediation activity, and the Australian Cyber Security Coordinator is also providing support. SVHA has stated that it will inform impacted individuals and provide them with steps to protect themselves if sensitive information has been stolen.

The Australian Federal Police have launched a criminal investigation into the incident. SVHA continues to deliver frontline health services and is managing network disruptions while remediation works are carried out.
