Recently, the China Classification Society (CCS) issued the first type approval certificate in China for a computer monitoring and alarm system that meets the requirements for cyber security. This is an important development as ships are becoming more digitalized and connected, increasing the risk of cyber security breaches. Supcon Ocean Technology (Zhejiang) Co., Ltd. received the approval, and this is not their first cyber security certification from CCS, as they were also issued a network security firewall type approval certificate earlier this year.

Cyber security in the maritime industry is a growing concern as more ships rely on computer-based systems for control, communication, navigation, and information management. With these systems continuously connected to the ship network, the risk of cyber attacks and security breaches is increasing.

China Classification Society (CCS) has been actively working on cyber security solutions for ships and has issued its first type approval certificate for a computer monitoring and alarm system that meets the requirements of IACS URE27. This type approval certificate ensures that the system complies with the necessary cyber security standards and can help mitigate the risk of cyber attacks.

Supcon Ocean Technology (Zhejiang) Co., Ltd. is the recipient of this first cyber security type approval certificate in China. They have been working on ship cyber security solutions and have previously received a network security firewall type approval certificate from CCS.

This type approval process by CCS is an important step towards improving ship cyber security in China. It sets a standard for cyber security measures and helps ensure that ships in China are equipped with the necessary systems to protect against cyber attacks.

The increasing digitalization and connectivity of ships pose new challenges for cyber security. It is crucial for the maritime industry to address these challenges and implement effective cyber security measures to protect against potential threats. The type approval process by CCS helps in this regard by certifying systems that meet the necessary cyber security standards.
