With around 300 attendees, the event provided a platform for students and professionals to learn from industry experts, participate in hacking competitions, and engage in networking opportunities. Junior Organizer Emily Holleran emphasized the importance of cybersecurity skills in today’s digital age, stating that every company will require individuals with expertise in this field.

Organizer Stephen Bizjak highlighted the significance of keeping individuals safe in the face of increasing digital threats. By organizing activities such as lock picking farms and educational sessions, BloomCon sought to raise awareness about the importance of cybersecurity and digital forensics. Additionally, the event featured a companion program, Hak4kids, hosted by the Bloomsburg Children’s Museum, to introduce children to STEM concepts at an early age.

The Hak4kids event welcomed over 500 children, providing them with hands-on activities to enhance their problem-solving skills and spark an interest in technology. Ginny Weibel, the museum director, emphasized the value of introducing children to STEM disciplines at a young age, as it helps develop essential cognitive functions for future success. Parents and adults attending the main conference also participated in the activities, showcasing their enthusiasm for promoting STEM education among the younger generation.

Overall, BloomCon successfully fostered a sense of curiosity and awareness about cybersecurity, digital forensics, and STEM among participants of all ages.
