In an effort to enhance students’ educational pathways in cybersecurity, Augusta University recently hosted a Cyber Workforce and Education Pathway Workshop with all 22 institutions from the Technical College System of Georgia. The workshop aimed to strengthen the cybersecurity workforce in the United States and provide transfer opportunities for students from associate to bachelor’s degree programs. The event featured presentations from AU leadership, TCSG leadership, representatives from the National Security Agency, and regional employers, highlighting the growing momentum in computing and cybersecurity programs at AU.
Augusta University has a history of creating strategic pathways for students aspiring to earn a bachelor’s degree in fields of study with good employment opportunities. The partnership with the Augusta Technical College has led to the development of pathway programs such as Augusta Advantage and an associate-to-bachelor’s degree pathway. The Cyber Workforce and Education Pathway Workshop aimed to expand pathway opportunities across Georgia’s technical colleges and showcase the growth of computing and cybersecurity programs at AU.
During the workshop, presenters discussed new transfer agreements and scholarship opportunities for students in cybersecurity programs. The event also included a panel of regional employer representatives and sessions for TCSG leaders to learn more about cybersecurity transfer pathways, curriculum, and internship opportunities at AU. The collaboration between Augusta University and the Technical College System of Georgia aims to address cybersecurity workforce challenges in the state and nation for years to come.
