The findings revealed that a majority of respondents feel that data silos are a major issue, with 72% reporting that security and IT data are siloed in their organization.
These data silos not only contribute to elevated security risk but also slow down security response times, with 63% of respondents stating that siloed data hinders their ability to respond effectively to security incidents. In addition, 54% believe that siloed data weakens their organization’s security posture, while 41% struggle to collaboratively manage cybersecurity efforts.
Leadership plays a critical role in addressing data silos, with CIOs and CISOs facing challenges in balancing employee productivity with data security. Collaboration between these key roles is essential to fostering a more secure workplace and promoting cross-functional security and IT data collaboration.
Despite the perceived risks posed by AI, nearly one in three security and IT professionals lack a documented strategy to address generative AI risks. However, cybersecurity is widely prioritized, with 80% of respondents reporting that their boards include someone with security expertise, and 86% stating that security is a topic of discussion at the board level.
Overall, the research highlights the importance of breaking down data silos, promoting collaboration between IT and security professionals, and addressing emerging cybersecurity threats effectively.
