CrowdStrike CEO says Windows BSOD is not a cyber attack, IT expert calls it biggest IT outage in history – India Today

Thousands of computers running Microsoft Windows and a cyber security program by CrowdStrike on Friday morning were suffering severe glitches, resulting in Blue Screen of Death (BSOD). The issue has impacted potentially millions of people worldwide as airlines, airport authorities, banks, government organizations, private companies, and municipal authorities scrambled to address the issue.

CrowdStrike CEO, George Kurtz, clarified that the Windows computers were glitching due to a bug and not a cyberattack. The company has identified, isolated, and deployed a fix for the issue. A temporary manual fix has also been suggested to customers by CrowdStrike.

IT experts are calling this Friday Windows outage one of the worst in history, with security researcher Troy Hunt predicting it to be the largest IT outage ever. The financial impact of the outage is already significant. The update issued by CrowdStrike to its software, Falcon, is believed to be the cause of the malfunction in Windows systems.
