A total of 94 cybersecurity service providers, professionals, and establishments were certified and accredited by the Cyber Security Authority (CSA) on Thursday, September 12, 2024. This follows the regulatory framework introduced by the Authority on March 1, 2023, to license Cybersecurity Service Providers (CSPs) and accredit Cybersecurity Establishments (CEs) and Cybersecurity Professionals (CPs), in accordance with the Cybersecurity Act, 2020 (Act 1038).

The certification and accreditation ensure that the services provided to Ghanaians meet approved standards and procedures. Stephen Cudjoe-Seshie, head of National Computer Emergency Response Team at the Cyber Security Authority, emphasized the importance of licensees observing utmost good faith towards clients while complying with Act 1038 and confidentiality and data protection obligations. The Cyber Security Authority has registered 252 CSPs, 65 CEs, and 1,451 CPs, with licenses for professionals renewable annually and for establishments valid for two years. Defaulting institutions and individuals may face sanctions, including criminal prosecution and administrative penalties.
