One of the key findings was that both MSPs and their customers are facing a lack of cybersecurity skills, leading to increased reliance on security vendors for handling the workload. The survey also identified stolen access data, credentials, and unpatched vulnerabilities as the biggest security risks for customers.

Additionally, the survey revealed a growing demand for Managed Detection and Response (MDR) services among MSPs to provide always-on coverage. The report showed that 81% of MSPs currently offer MDR services, with 97% planning to add it to their portfolio in the future. MSPs are streamlining their cybersecurity partnerships by working with a smaller number of vendors, with the majority using one to five cybersecurity vendors. The survey also highlighted the importance of MDR providers being able to provide 24/7 incident response services.

In conclusion, the Sophos MSP survey identified key challenges faced by MSPs in the security landscape, including talent shortage, cybersecurity solutions, and cyber threats.
