SixGen uses acquisition to grow cyber software, data product lineup

SixGen, a cybersecurity provider, has made its first acquisition with the support of private equity owner Washington Harbour Partners. By purchasing Secure Enterprise Engineering (Secure-EE), SixGen aims to enhance its intellectual property library in cyber software infrastructure and data management.

Secure-EE, established in 2005, offers Distant Rook, a product designed to automate threat hunting functions for enterprises. The company has secured contracts with the Air Force, including a significant third-phase contract in 2022 worth $15 million over three years.

Following the acquisition, SixGen, which was sold to Washington Harbour Partners in November 2023, hired Jack Wilmer, a former deputy chief information officer for cybersecurity at the Defense Department, as its CEO. Financial and legal advice for the transaction was provided by Morrison & Foerster, PwC, Davis Agnor Rapaport Skalny, and Evergreen Advisors.
