Introducing Somos: IoT Identity Management, Cybersecurity Made Easy

Somos has unveiled a new IoT identity management service called SomosID, designed to enhance visibility and fortify cybersecurity defenses for businesses. The service provides a registry for businesses’ IoT assets, offering transparency and increased visibility into the activities and management of these assets. SomosID equips businesses with tools to track an IoT asset’s identity and technical attributes, including hardware and software bill of materials, certifications, and vulnerabilities. This information is continuously updated throughout the asset’s lifecycle, enabling owners to monitor and receive vulnerability alerts in real time. The lack of transparency surrounding IoT devices and their management poses a concern, as accountability for security becomes blurred with multiple partners involved. Traditional perimeter security approaches are inadequate in safeguarding against IoT-related threats, making services like SomosID crucial for businesses.
