Microsoft To Ban 50+ Products For Users In Russia

TLDR:

  • Softline Group suspends access to cloud products by Microsoft, Amazon, and Google for Russian customers.
  • Microsoft announces suspension of new sales in Russia due to EU sanctions, affecting a wide range of cloud-based software.

Softline Group, a major IT solutions provider, has confirmed the suspension of access to cloud products offered by Microsoft, Amazon, and Google for Russian customers. Microsoft Corporation has recently announced the suspension of new sales in Russia. This disruption is effective March 20, 2024, and applies to a wide range of cloud-based software, including Power BI, Dynamics CRM, and potentially others.

These restrictions stem from the European Union’s “12th package of sanctions” implemented in December 2023. The ban includes a variety of corporate applications, from business process management to software development tools like Visual Studio. Russian companies will no longer be able to use or access data stored within these affected cloud products.

Softline Group advises Russian companies to back up their data and transition to domestically made alternatives. The ban aligns the tech industry with international sanctions policies, posing challenges for Russian businesses as they navigate an increasingly isolated technological landscape.
