A SUNY Canton cybersecurity expert, Associate Professor Kambiz Ghazinour, has patented educational cybersecurity software called Digital Privacy and Security Simulator (DigitalPASS). The software, developed by CyberSpara, Inc., utilizes gamification to teach cybersecurity safety to various groups, including K-12, healthcare, defense, and small businesses. The simulator is currently being used in schools and by defense sectors, helping individuals stay safe online and prevent identity theft. Ghazinour, also the Chief Strategy Officer of CyberSpara, emphasizes the importance of educating people about being cautious with their online information. The software has received significant support, including grants from the National Science Foundation and SUNY Technology Accelerator Fund. SUNY Canton, where Ghazinour serves as a faculty member, offers a Cybersecurity Bachelor of Science program and has been recognized by the NSA and Department of Homeland Security as a Center of Academic Excellence in Cyber Defense.
