Taiwan recently shared its insights on countering Chinese cyberattacks with the US and India in a workshop held in New Delhi. The workshop aimed to improve coordination among like-minded partners and enhance crisis response capabilities. Taiwan’s advanced cybersecurity measures have become crucial in the face of heightened tensions with China. The workshop discussed how to counter cyberattacks launched by organizations being developed and trained by the Chinese People’s Liberation Army. Taiwan’s cutting-edge technological defenses and strong public and private cybersecurity networks provide a model for global cyberdefense strategies.

Taiwan’s comprehensive legal and policy framework for dealing with cyberthreats also provides a benchmark for creating cybersecurity regulations. The framework enables pooling resources to tackle cyberthreats, allows information-sharing, establishes consistent cybersecurity standards, and serves as a strategic deterrent to invasive cyberactivities.

Representatives from India and the US expressed their hope to enhance the resilience of digital democracy through in-depth discussions on various topics, including the digital economy, artificial intelligence, cybercrime, and ways to defend critical information infrastructure. Former Indian national cybersecurity coordinator and Indian National Security Advisory Board member expressed their willingness to cooperate with Taiwan and the US to improve cybersecurity.

The workshop’s focus on countering Chinese cyberattacks highlights the growing concerns over China’s cyberbehavior, which includes sophisticated cyberespionage campaigns and aggressive attacks on critical infrastructure. Taiwan’s experiences and strategies in dealing with these cyberthreats are valuable for countries like India and the US.
