UnitedHealth Group bounces back with restored critical services post-cyberattack

UnitedHealth Group (UHG) has announced that critical services are back online at its subsidiary Change Healthcare after dealing with a cyberattack on its claims and payment infrastructure. The cybersecurity firm Palo Alto Networks, along with Mandiant, has been working with UHG to restore operations. So far, a large majority of infrastructure has been reviewed and protected, allowing more than 9 million prescriptions to be filled. The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) Office for Civil Rights has opened an investigation into the cyberattack to focus on potential breaches of protected health information and compliance with HIPPA Rules. UHG is cooperating with the investigation and working with law enforcement to protect data and support those affected by the breach.
