- BCR Cyber partners with Maryland Association of Community Colleges to upskill students in cybersecurity
- $3.6M project aims to roll out programming in all of Maryland’s 16 community colleges by spring 2025
Maryland is facing a shortage of cybersecurity professionals, but a training center, BCR Cyber, is working to address this gap. The center has received funding from the Maryland Department of Commerce, as well as support from US Senators Ben Cardin and Chris Van Hollen, to implement a $3.6 million program to train students in cybersecurity across the state. BCR Cyber has already trained nearly 1,000 students using innovative technology developed by a private Israeli company.
The training program includes hands-on experience in simulated cyber attacks and collaboration with industry partners like Northrop Grumman and Booz Allen Hamilton to ensure students are well-prepared for full-time cybersecurity roles. The goal of the program is to meet the growing demand for cybersecurity professionals in Maryland, eventually expanding nationwide to address the workforce gap in this critical field.
