VF Corp, the parent company of popular brands such as The North Face, Supreme, and Vans, recently experienced a cybersecurity incident impacting its online order fulfillment capabilities. Other brands under VF Corp, including Timberland, Dickies, and JanSport, may also be affected.

  • The cybersecurity incident encrypted some of the company’s IT systems, resulting in online order fulfillment and operational disruptions. VF Corp also reported that data was taken during the breach. They are currently working to restore the impacted sections of its IT systems and reduce disruptions for its retail and e-commerce consumers.
  • Physical store operations and most brand websites continue to function, allowing customers to make purchases. VF Corp operates over 1,200 stores worldwide.
  • On December 13, VF Corp detected unauthorized activity within its IT systems and began immediate efforts to contain, assess, and address the incident. It has engaged external cybersecurity experts to respond to and mitigate the impact of the attack and is cooperating with federal law enforcement.
  • The company has yet to determine whether the incident will have a material financial impact. It did, however, state that the incident is reasonably likely to continue to affect the company’s operations until recovery efforts are completed.
  • Several other prominent companies, including MGM Resorts, Caesars Entertainment, and Clorox, have also been targeted by cyberattacks this year.

Cybersecurity attacks continue to pose significant threats to business operations, particularly affecting online activities. Companies need to remain vigilant, adopting robust security measures, and implementing prompt, effective responses to detected threats.
