In a recent interview, cybersecurity expert Eric Draeger shared some important tips and tricks for protecting personal information online. One of his key pieces of advice is to use complex passwords that are not easily guessable. Draeger suggests using four random words separated by special characters as a password, as this can create a long and uncrackable password. He also recommends using password manager apps to store and manage passwords securely.

Draeger also warns against oversharing personal information online. Birth dates, in particular, can be used by hackers to find information about individuals. He also advises against sharing travel plans online, as this can potentially lead to safety issues. Draeger also highlights the importance of using a virtual private network (VPN) when using public Wi-Fi networks, as this can protect users from potential security risks.

In addition to these tips, Draeger discusses the rise of voice phishing, or vishing, attacks. Vishing involves impersonating an employee over the phone in order to gain access to password reset systems and multi-factor authentication codes. Draeger warns that vishing attacks are becoming increasingly common and predicts that they will continue to grow in 2024.
